Breakfast and butterflies

Our now very light and sunny (weather permitting) patio is perfect for enjoying breakfast out of doors when the west wind is too chilly for sitting on the southwest terrace, – as it has been for the last couple of days.

Eating breakfast out of doors with butterflies flitting all around evokes a very summery feeling, – and with June just on the doorstep, – the hope of many more such moments to come.

I entertained myself at the breakfast table by pointing the camera and shooting some of the butterflies, using a full zoom.  A lot of the photos were lousy, but I got a few that I liked.

The butterflies all seem to be of the same species, but are different individuals. The line pattern on the wings is quite fascinating, and would make a great quilting pattern, or maybe inspire a stained glass quilt.

  1. The butterflies are lovely but so are the flowers. Isn’t it wonderful how nature is such an inspiration for artists? A stained glass quilt would be gorgeous.
